Carl-Einar Hackner: Big in Sweden - Reviewed on the web

CARL-EINAR Hackner commands attention. A long-haired Swede, resplendent in flared trousers, his wild-eyed appearance is enough to invoke giggles before he utters a word.
Pulling a never-ending stream of gags from an Ikea box, Hackner turns props into objects of hilarity, aided in no small part by his ridiculous, thickly accented commentary.

Hackner hams up the whole being-Swedish thing, as you would expect. The IKEA, ABBA and ice hockey jokes are pulled out promptly amongst a trilogy of comedic, musical and B-grade magic trick segments. I acknowledge Hackner definitely has a broad range of talent – with him being an alumni of the Famous Spiegeltent’s favourite show, La Clique, I expected no less.
Hackner relies a lot on props, and some of his tricks/segments are truly original and funny. There aren’t many people out there who can fit an entire mouth organ inside their mouth – and play it properly.

Hackner is a highly recommended ‘must-see’; a comedic force of nature among a sea of stand-ups unwilling to look this ridiculous for the most noble aim of all – to keep people chuckling with carefree glee.
