2010 Adelaide Cabaret Festival: Mitchell Butel - Killing Time - 19th & 20th June

Tales of time from the jazz and blues songbooks.

Deeply charismatic, smoothly sanguine and one of the finest voices you’ll ever hear.” Sydney Morning Herald.

A thousand dreams, a handful of loves, too many martinis and 24 hours packed into 60 minutes of song. After star turns in Avenue Q, Dusty, The Venetian Twins, Gettin’ Square and Hair, Mitchell Butel, the Helpmann and Green Room Award winner (and voice of the Playschool theme song to boot) returns to the cabaret stage for this unique and wry, hilarious and poignant tale of a day in his life (and ours). Backed by a white-hot jazz trio, Mitchell weaves his way through a night of song and verse, including works by Ellington, Jordan, Monk, Bernstein, Mercer, Arlen, Waits, Sondheim and Shorter.
