2010 Adelaide Cabaret Festival: Redhead - Marika Aubrey
Sunday, May 9, 2010 at 5:38PM
Flaming fun with tempting Titians.
“Explosive, mindblowing, and more than fulfilling.” aussietheatre.com
Rita Hayworth, Lucille Ball and Ethel Merman: Redhead is a celeb ration of some of the world’s most famous flame-haired dames, both real and fictional, along with the music that ignited their careers.
And who better to explore the facts, myths and music of these iconic fiery females than Australia’s own Marika Aubrey, a fine Hunter red herself.
Recently named Cabaret Performer of the Year, Marika brings her show to Adelaide direct from a season in New York
Written and performed by Marika Aubrey
Musical Director: Craig Renshaw
Reviews
I will simply say, the performance (including the arrangements by fellow Aussie Geoffrey Castles) was without a flaw! For a full hour Ms. Aubrey kept everyone enthralled with her sparkling stories, exciting movement, and most of all, her fantastic Broadway belt (she actually did a Merman song without microphone).

Aubrey has good patter and notes that float like liquid in and through a wide-ranging register. The show is clever, well constructed and shows off her performance abilities.
