Sophie Walsh-Harrington, who is actually from Harrogate, won the best cabaret award at the Adelaide Fringe for her show The Damsel in Shining Armour and it’s easy to see why.
I’ve seen countless shows about women travelling the world and having unhappy love affairs but never seen anyone make self-absorption as hilarious as this new shining star. Utterly fearless, relentlessly silly and ridiculously melodramatic, Sophie Walsh-Harrington is fresh, funny and thoroughly entertaining. The combination of Yorkshire frankness and diva-like intensity is a magic formula and she has a great Celine Dion-a-like voice.
**** 4/5
